Google Password: How do I change my @nsaschool.ca password?

Answer:

I. The Direct Answer

You can update your password by visiting your Microsoft Account Profile. This change affects your login for Google and school email, but the update itself must be done through Microsoft's security portal.

II. Details for Further Learning

Analogy:

Think of your Microsoft Account as your "Master Key Card." Even though you use that key to get into different "rooms" (like Google Drive or Moodle), you have to go to the "Security Office" (Microsoft Profile) if you want to change the code on the card.

Step-by-Step Instructions:

  1. Navigate: Go to myaccount.microsoft.com.

  2. Sign In: Enter your current @nsaschool.ca or @ghsd75.ca email and your current password.

  3. Locate Security: On the left-hand menu or the main dashboard, look for the Password tile or the Change Password link.

  4. Authenticate: You will be asked to enter your old password one last time before creating a new one.

  5. Update: Enter your new unique password and click Submit.

Password Requirements (The Security Shield):

To keep your account safe, Microsoft requires your new password to meet these rules:

  • Length: At least 8 characters long.

  • Complexity: Must include at least one Number or Symbol (e.g., !, @, #).

  • Privacy: It cannot contain your first or last name.

  • History: It cannot be a password you have used recently.

Contextual Tip:

  • Online Students: After changing your password, you may need to log out and log back into the Chrome browser or the Moodle app to sync the new "key."

  • Forgotten Passwords: If you don't know your current password, these steps won't work. Please contact help@nsaschool.ca to request a temporary password first.
