LITERACY & DEVELOPMENT

Helping Our Students Soar

"The more that you read, the more things you will know."

Dr. Seuss

Reading matters—not just for school, but for life. By making reading a part of everyday life at home, it becomes less about assignments and more about curiosity and connection—something we value as a community of learners connected in Christ.

Support by Grade Level

Grades 1–6

Early Discovery

Read together often. Snuggle up, take turns, and talk about characters. Routines help, but five good minutes still count.

Grades 7–9

Personal Choice

Let kids choose what they read (yes, graphic novels count). Talk about ideas instead of quizzing. If they roll their eyes, you’re probably doing it right.

Grades 10–12

Quiet Connection

Reading may look independent, but it still matters. Show interest and model reading yourself—they notice more than they admit.

Building Empathy

Reading helps students listen to other voices, inviting the empathy and reflection that shape how they engage with the world.

Promoting literacy doesn't have to be complicated. One page at a time, we're helping our students grow as learners—and as people.
