Fire Cadets

The Calgary Fire Cadet program is not a typical cadet program. The focus is on attaining skills with some classroom time, but the majority of hands on experience. They will be trained in SCBA (breathing apparatus), fire extinguishers, ropes and knots, ladders, hydrants and hoses, first aid and so much more! It is a 1.5 year program. The first part starts this current year involving interviews and orientation. The time commitment from now to the end of June is minimal. At the beginning of July there is two weeks of intensive training (all day) and then nothing until September. The bulk of the program will run from September 2019 to June 2020. This will be every Wednesday night. This program is open to high school aged boys and girls, age 15-18.  Application deadline is January 30, 2019, it is an in-depth application, so start it early!
We have had both and son and daughter go through the program and there is not any part of the program that was a disappointment. If you have further questions you check out the website on the poster or feel free to contact us if you want to talk to someone who participated in the program. (Julie Schroeder thatsme2@shaw.ca).
